My name is Sonia Torres.   The world of birth is a newfound passion that I have welcomed with open arms consuming literature,  studies, news, & articles.  



Ten years ago I never imagined that today I would be doing doula work & diving into birth  with aspirations of becoming a midwife.  Ten years ago I had just graduated nursing school and had hopes of taking a faith led compassionate model of care to another  country.  I entered my career as a pediatric nurse, fell in love, had beautiful children traveled to California  and ended in South Carolina.  The global hum still echoed in my heart. 



There are pebbles that ripple in our current of life that do so in order to remind us, to redirect our original compass.  The doula  I hired for my last birth has become one pebble leading me back.  Doulas aren't designed merely for birth but rather for life itself.  The word doula comes from the Greek meaning servant.  I desire to serve. Ultimately to serve across cultural boundaries, out of my comfort zone relaying the message of life as witness to the sacredness that is birth.  Thank you from my deep heart's core for allowing me to journey with you and become a pebble in your story.
